Privacy Policy

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, a display name, and a password. Your password is handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is stored in hashed form — we never see or store it in plain text.

Social sign-in. If you choose to sign up or log in using a third-party account (currently Google, with more planned), that provider shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us, as permitted by your settings with that provider. We use this only to create and secure your DogSportPlanet account — we don't request or receive access to your contacts, posts, or activity on those platforms.

Profile and sport data you provide. If you claim or create a handler profile, dog profile, or submit competition results or health test records, we collect whatever information you choose to add — for example a handler bio, kennel name, a dog's name, breed, pedigree, registration details, photos, and event results. Much of this information (competition results, titles, pedigree data) reflects public sporting records and is displayed publicly on the Site as part of its purpose.

Messages and community submissions. If you message a handler through the Site, submit a correction, a report, or results on someone's behalf, we collect the content of that submission and, where you're signed in, associate it with your account so we can follow up or notify you when it's reviewed. Some submission forms can be used without an account, in which case we only store what you typed into the form (e.g. a sender name and email you provide voluntarily).

Usage and technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically processes standard technical data needed to serve pages and keep the Site secure, such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps. We also use Vercel's built-in Web Analytics to see aggregate traffic trends (e.g. which pages are popular) — it's designed to work without cookies or persistent identifiers and does not track you individually across other sites.

Cookies. We use a small number of strictly functional, first-party cookies: one to keep you signed in (set by our authentication provider), and a short-lived technical cookie used to update your "last seen" status without extra server load. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't run ads on DogSportPlanet.

We use the information above to:

• Create and secure your account, and let you sign in
• Display dog, handler, and competition information on the Site, as intended by its purpose
• Let members message each other, send and accept friend requests, and manage dog profile transfers
• Review and act on reports, suggested edits, and submitted results or health tests, and notify you when your submission has been resolved or approved
• Keep the Site secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose technical problems
• Communicate with you about your account (e.g. confirming your email, or replying to a support request)

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

We don't sell your data. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Site (sometimes called "sub-processors"), and only as needed for them to provide that service:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider; stores your account and profile data
• Vercel — our hosting provider; serves the Site and provides privacy-friendly analytics
• Resend — delivers transactional emails (e.g. confirming your email address or a magic-link sign-in)
• Google, and other sign-in providers you choose to use — authenticate your identity if you sign up or log in through them

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of DogSportPlanet, our users, or the public.

Competition results, rankings, pedigree information, and dog/handler profile data are, by the nature of the Site, displayed publicly to visitors — that's the core purpose of DogSportPlanet as a public sport records hub. Your account email address and password are never displayed publicly.

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Public sporting records (results, titles, pedigree data) may be retained even after an account is deleted, since they reflect historical competition data rather than personal account information. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or U.S. state privacy laws). You can update most of your profile information directly from your account settings. For anything else — including a full data export or account deletion — email us at k9ringsports@gmail.com and we'll respond as quickly as we can.

DogSportPlanet is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

DogSportPlanet is used by working dog sport communities around the world, and the service providers listed above may process and store information in countries other than your own. We rely on those providers' own safeguards for cross-border data transfers.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including relying on our providers' security practices (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access-controlled databases). No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe and will let you know if we become aware of an incident affecting your data.

We may update this policy from time to time as the Site evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above; continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
